Detox diets (also called cleanse diets) will be your main focal point when you are body detoxing. Bad diet can be the sole cause of your body not being efficient at eliminating waste, so by starting on your diet you will see some great results. The idea of a good diet is to eat pure and natural foods that will help the function of the liver, intestines, kidneys and lymph system. Generally detox diets will contain the following foods:
- Organic food and drink (no pesticides or fungicides).
- Mix of vegetables and fruit.
- Whole unprocessed foods (grains, nuts, seeds, etc).
- Certain herbs such as Psyllium seed, Licorice root, Yucca root, Milk thistle seed, Gentian root, to aid the detoxifying process.
- 2 liters of water per day
Freeing our bodies of toxins so they can help heal and cleanse has the added benefit of causing rapid weight loss. This will not get rid of any muscle mass, but just of the toxic fat that our bodies accumulate when we are unhealthy.
Even if you are not ready to fully commit to a full detox diet, start in introducing the foods above and cutting back on, Alcohol, caffeine, tobacco, drugs, processed and refined foods, certain supplements due to the amount of additives.
