There are many days where tiredness takes over and we could do with knowing what foods are great energy boosters. You will find that many times on this website, I mention how just general healthy eating, changing your diets and learning how to eat better will benefit you short term and long term. If you are stuck on where to start, I have picked out some great foods to include in your diet that will naturally reduce tiredness and ensure you are getting the right nutrients to get on top of your game the whole day through.

  • Vegetables are full of vitamin B which adds in the conversion of other nutrients into energy. They are also rich in the energy producing nutrients zinc and magnesium.
  • Nuts especially almonds as they are a great source of potassium.
  • Natural yogurt as this contains vitamin B which converts other nutrients to energy.
  • Eggs are an excellent source of protein which slowly releases energy.
  • Beans and Lentils have a very high amount of potassium which is a great source for energy. They also are complex carbs as apposed to simple carbs such as bread, rice and pasta. Complex carbs keep you fuller for longer and slowly release they energy where as simple carbs spike your blood sugar which causes you to crash and be very tired (sound familiar?).
  • Supplements – There are some great products out there that will give you all the nutrients you need plus natural energy boosters.

As well as improving your diet to help with your body detox and energy levels, I have researched and added some of my favorite top tips for helping to improve your energy levels.

  • Wake up naturally – When your alarm goes off in the middle of a sleep cycle, it has been proven to affect you for hours later. You struggle to wake up as quickly and often feel groggy for the rest of the day.
  • Cold showers – Horrible as it sounds they are actually very invigorating. Alternate between cold and hot, it has been proven to increase metabolism and circulation and alert the senses.
  • Get some strong mints – Mints open up your nasal passage allowing more oxygen to get into your lungs quicker. After you have had your mint, take some deep breaths in your nose and out of your mouth.
  • Add a plant to your desk – Research has shown that workers energy levels rise 10% by simply having a plant near by.
  • Water – Even if you know you are not dehydrated and are needing a wee every 10 minutes, keep this level of water intake up. Makes a tremendous difference.
  • Exercise – Exercise releases endorphins which is a happy chemical that makes us feel good. Adrenaline, serotonin and dopamine are also release that will give you a high that will last all day long.

I hope you find this overview useful and start to change your lifestyle a bit. Once you have seen the benefits of just making little changes, you will start to incorporate more methods into your daily routine that suit you. You will soon be finding your own personal preferences on energy boosters.
