Detox Foods

Whilst you are on a body detox, many of you will be wondering what detox foods you can eat and which are out of bounds. Below is a list of foods that you should be avoiding.
- Meat contains enzymes that are hard to digest so steer clear of any meat that runs or flies.
- Alcohol is a poison to the body and your liver struggles to get rid of it out of your body. It is also a diuretic, taking water from your body which will not help with the detox process.
- Tea and Coffee, fizzy drinks are out of bounds.
- Wheat, contains gluten which most people have an intolerance to (ever wonder why your bloated?). Gluten causes a number of conditions and skin complaints. From simple complaints such as dry skin and allergies to as serious as diabetics, IBS, bone disease and possible cancer. Wheat is an evil food and should be left out of your diet, not just when you are detoxing. You will also notice dramatic weight loss, have more energy and feel a lot more healthy, happy days!
- Ready meals are full of sugar and preservatives, exactly what you are trying to get rid from your body.
- Sweets. OK so you probably know how bad sweets are for you already but I just thought I would put it on the list just incase you were thinking of reaching for the sweet jar. Throw them out now!
Well, as you look at the list above you might be wondering what you are meant to eat, as for some of you, this could be your stable diet. But now is the time to learn new meals, explore new flavors and discover that eating healthily doesn’t mean bland, boring foods. Nature has the best tastes, not man made stodgy food. Take a look at the options of great detox foods below and then look online for some great recipes.
Live yogurt, nuts (non salted), fish, leafy green vegetables, broccoli, sprouts, watercress, lemon, garlic, tumeric, ginger, parsley, artichokes, cabbage, pineapple, sesame seeds, goji berries, miso, beetroot, purple tomatoes, flaxseed, herbal teas, spinach and most importantly water.
Above is only the main detox foods that you should try and incorporate into your diet. There are many many more healthy options that will help you lose weight, detox and lead a much more healthier lifestyle.
Each day I always try and incorporate spinach, nuts, fish, vegetables, ginger (I have it with hot water), flaxseed (there are some great recipes online to get this into your diet) and lots of water (at least 3 liters, more in the summer). I have only this past year changed my diet to include more fresh products and I would never go back to eating how I used to. So just maybe start by filtering some different meals into your week to start with. You will soon learn to understand detox foods and why they are good for you.
