Natural remedies are also the most effective, have less side effects and are cheaper to make. So whether you have been suffering from constipation on and off for a while or just wish to give your body a help a long, here are some great tips to relieve you.

What is Constipation?

Constipation can be very uncomfortable, causing pain and bloated abdomen, stomach cramps and possible nausea. It is when the movement of food through the large intestines slows or stops completely that leads to the uncomfortable build up of waste products. As the waste has slowed down, the more water is adsorbed from it, causing it to become drier, harder and more difficult for your body to push along.

This can happen for any number of reason, such as, illnesses, medication, bad diet, change in diet or visiting different countries where the food is different.

Natural Constipation Relief

The first and foremost remedy to try before anything else, is to increase your fresh fruit and vegetable intake. A lot of constipation issues are down to a bad diet. The increased intake in green vegetables and fruit, will provide your digestive system with more fiber and roughage that are needed to pass feces easily. Some foods that are recognized as being natural laxatives are, almonds, apricots (dried), avocados, chicory, coconut, dandelion (eat the dandelion leaves only if the do not have chemicals on them), dates, endive, figs, flaxseed, grapes, mango’s, olive, papayas, parsley, persimmons, pineapple, prunes, rhubarb, soybeans, turnips, walnuts, watercress.

My personal favorites to have on a daily basis to prevent any problems, is flaxseed and mangos. I also ensure I have a high intake of fruit and vegetables and try and limit the junk food.

If you are aware that you have an illness that may be effecting your digestive system then it is advisable to increase your vitamin C intake as this will help your immune system fight any illnesses.

I mentioned above, how constipation is caused by your food struggling to move through the digestive system, due to it being dry. Well a very affective way to relieve your symptoms is to drink around 8 pints of water a day. You may have heard that this is the recommended daily allowance, well it is recommended for a reason. This not only will make you feel a lot better, but after your body have taken what it needs to survive, the rest will get flushed out through your digestive system. This will loosen your feces up and help move everything along. If you struggle to drink just pure water, it is OK to use a few drops of lemons or limes in it.

If you are still struggling to find a cure, then below is a list of some great supplements you may want to try.

  • Magnesium
  • Folic Acid
  • Apple Pectin
  • Few tablespoons of honey into milk.

Prevention is Better than Cure

Like any medical condition it is best to prevent it, rather than just treat the symptoms. I have stressed the important of diet and your water intake. I would also encourage you to read about Colon Cleanse Detox and perform this a few times a year to help prevent constipation.

If you are still experiencing problems after a week, it is advisable that you should go and see your doctor. Always use common sense when using natural constipation relief.
